The national competition is now over. While our team, Vegas 2.0, didn’t make the top five, they did win two awards, “Best Management of Water Resources” from Bentley Systems as well as “Best Essay” overall! Congratulations to the students who worked so hard, and to all 1100 teams that participated this year in the Future City Competition across the country!

In addition to the surveys the Las Vegas region sends out to teachers and mentors, the National Future City Competition also has surveys for teachers and students.
You can help out the national and regional Future City Competitions by taking the time to answer a survey (for teachers, for students) about this year’s competition. Teachers are eligible to win a $250 technology grant!

Are you ready? Have you finished your tabletop model? Have you practiced your presentation?
Registration is from 3:00P-6:00P on Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Northwest Career and Technical Academy (driving directions, map of the school grounds) in the banquet hall. Because there is a good chance of rain, be sure to cover your city with a tarp to keep it from getting soaked on your way into the building. There is a drop off area in the front of the school (towards Tropical Pkwy.) from there you can bring the model inside using the southern doors.
Competition Check-in Checklist [Updated 1/19 3:15P - added Honor Statement and T-Shirt info]
- Tabletop Model
- Presentation Aides (flip charts – we will provide the easels for the in-room presentations)
- CCSD Media Waivers (all three students, plus alternate if necessary)
- Future City Media Waivers (all three students, plus alternate if necessary)
- Model ID Card with: city name, all three student names (plus alternate if necessary), teacher name, school name, mentor name, and scale.
- Expense Form with any supporting documentation (receipts)
- Honor Statement (new for 2010, p. 58 in the handbook)
- T-Shirt Sizes for each team member
See you Friday afternoon!
